Our Verdict (Best for)

The Home Master TMHP-L is a strong pick if you want a high-quality and mostly US-made under sink RO with ultra-fast faucet flow. But, first-timers might get frustrated during setup due to the confusing system configuration, short faucet tubing, and lackluster instructions. Once it’s up and running, the Home Master TMHP-L is easy to use providing plenty of water. We also like the permeate pump which cuts wastewater up to 80%, the UV disinfection stage, and the remineralization which treats your water twice, before and after the storage tank, for up to twice the mineral content. The TMHP-L also had excellent results in our lab testing, and the filtered water was perfect. More pros/cons: The system isn’t cheap but comes with a 5-year warranty, the wall mount is flimsy, and it completely lacks NSF certifications/testing for contaminant reduction.

The Home Master TMHP-L HydroPerfection Loaded is a tank-based under sink reverse osmosis system that requires a plumbing connection. It’s designed for use as a drinking water filter and can purify both tap water and properly disinfected well water.

As usual, we’ve tested the system with our own hands:

  1. Hands-on experience: We installed/assembled, used, and maintained it.
  2. Filtration effectiveness: We sent an unfiltered and a filtered tap water sample to a professional lab for analysis in order to determine real-life contaminant reduction capabilities (and remineralization). Plus, we checked for NSF certifications and other test data.
  3. More testing: We performed a taste & odor test, a filtration speed test, a tank-filling speed test, a usable water test, and a wastewater test.
  4. All other product aspects: We considered initial + long-term cost, product warranties, additional features, frequent customer complaints, etc.

What We Like Most

  • Achieved excellent results in our lab testing for contaminant reduction.
  • Filtered water tasted and smelled 100% clean.
  • Easy to use with ultra-fast faucet flow and plenty of water provided.
  • Can remineralize water twice (once before tank filling to prolong tank life).
  • Cold UV sterilization chamber won’t heat water.
  • Suited for well water with iron (KDF-85 filter).
  • Looks and feels well-made (except wall mount).
  • Simple yet solid faucet with 3 faucet options.
  • Very low wastewater ratio thanks to permeate pump which also increases faucet flow and speeds tank filling.
  • Reasonable purchase cost and fairly average annual maintenance fees.
  • Excellent 5-year (limited) warranty.
  • Made in USA (except tank and UV module).
  • Helpful customer service.

What We Don’t Like

  • No NSF certifications/testing for contaminant reduction.
  • Not the easiest system to install (confusing configuration, lackluster instructions, our drain saddle was the wrong size, some quick-connect fittings are difficult to remove, very short faucet tubing limits placement.
  • Wall mount is not sturdy (the system fell off once).
  • Confusing configuration makes filter replacement more challenging than with other systems (though easy to remove).
  • No filter life indicator.
  • 3rd-party customers complained about difficulty connecting the faucet.

Full Analysis of the Home Master TMHP-L

Please note: We repeated our lab test for remineralization because we initially tested the Home Master TMHP-L HydroPerfection Loaded with its storage tank turned off (as we usually do for tank-based under-sink RO systems). With the tank off, the TMHP-L provides only one remineralization pass. For our second test, we ran the system with the tank on, which reflects normal operation where the water is remineralized twice – once before and once after the storage tank.

Remember that our before vs after lab comparison is not an exact science. It’s informational and subject to variability, inaccuracies, and interferences caused by natural fluctuations in water quality, accidental contamination, human error, instrumentation issues, and more. Furthermore, our lab-testing is limited to those contaminants present in our water supplies and at their respective concentrations. As such, it can only give us a general idea for how effective a certain water treatment product might be.

*100% means reduction to below the minimum detection level. To learn more about our testing procedures check our editorial guidelines.

**Our remineralization lab results reflect water dispensed immediately after purification, representing the shortest possible contact time between purified RO water and remineralization media — a baseline scenario for mineral concentration. We used this approach to ensure consistency across all tested RO systems. Actual remineralization performance during regular everyday use is likely better but can vary significantly.
