Our Verdict (Best For)

The ProOne Pitcher with the legacy G2.0 M filter delivered water that tasted and smelled 100% clean. But otherwise performance was abysmal: In our lab testing, benzene and radon were detected in our filtered water above the strictest health guidelines (we observed similar results testing the ProOne Traveler+ with the legacy G2.0 5” filter). Also, too many contaminants weren’t 100% removed, including a 200% increase in barium. And while we appreciate ProOne’s very extensive third-party testing for contaminant reduction, at least some of it wasn’t performed for the full claimed filter life. Also, no actual NSF certifications. Finally, it took 12 hours to filter just 90% of the water. Bottom line: Do not buy.

The ProOne is a water filter pitcher. It’s designed for use as a drinking water filter and can purify both tap water and properly disinfected well water.

As usual, we’ve tested the pitcher with our own hands:

  1. Hands-on experience: We assembled, primed, used, and maintained it.
  2. Filtration effectiveness: We sent an unfiltered and a filtered tap water sample to a professional lab for analysis in order to determine real-life contaminant reduction capabilities. Plus, we checked for NSF certifications and other test data.
  3. More testing: We performed a taste & odor test as well as a filtration speed test.
  4. All other product aspects: We considered initial + long-term cost, product warranties, additional features, frequent customer complaints, etc.

What We Like Most

  • Filtered water tasted and smelled 100% clean.
  • Extensive third-party testing for contaminant reduction (but at least some not over full filter life).
  • Easy to set up and maintain.
  • Filters can be cleaned and reused.
  • Comes with a fruit/vegetable infusion tube for flavored water.

What We Don’t Like

  • Failed to fully remove 5 (6) contaminants in our lab testing, including a 200% increase in barium.
  • Benzene and radon appeared in our water post-filtration above the most stringent health guidelines (potential benzene leaching also seen in our ProOne Traveler+ lab test using the G2.0 5″ filter).
  • No actual NSF certifications for contaminant reduction.
  • Limited 6.75-cup size.
  • Extremely slow filtration speed (12+ hours).
  • Lid must be removed to fill, and the lid and reservoir fall out when pouring the last water or when there is unfiltered water in the reservoir.
  • No filter life indicator.
  • Rather expensive to purchase, and 225 gal claimed filter life could be unrealistic increasing maintenance cost.
  • Short 120-day warranty.
  • 3rd party customers complained about clogged and leaking filters.

Remember that our before vs after lab comparison is not an exact science. It’s informational and subject to variability, inaccuracies, and interferences caused by natural fluctuations in water quality, accidental contamination, human error, instrumentation issues, and more. Furthermore, our lab-testing is limited to those contaminants present in our water supplies and at their respective concentrations. As such, it can only give us a general idea for how effective a certain water treatment product might be.
